10 Funniest Commercials Featuring Wrestlers
Emma Powell When the WWE and the wrestling industry were firing on all cylinders during the Attitude Era, pop culture wanted a piece of any wrestler they could find to work with. It certainly helped wrestlers gain some modicum of notoriety outside of the ring that they could maybe help companies sell products and bring more eyes to the WWE franchise to create a cyclical relationship.

It happened before and after the Attitude Era as well, but whenever a superstar became a pitch-person, oftentimes, fans were treated to some funny moments of Superstars out of the ring.
10 Stone Cold Steve Austin - Sports Center
Despite professional wrestling being a dirty word by WWE standards, the company has always tried to seek out partnerships with sports television’s biggest channel, ESPN. During the early days of the Ruthless Aggression Era, The Texas Rattlesnake had the opportunity to visit Sports Center for a “This Is Sports Center” spot. Broadcaster, Dan Patrick tried to help Austin stay awake in the wee hours. Patrick leveled him with a chair, seemingly to no effect. So he asked for and received another one.
9 Sting - Sprite
It didn’t happen very often, but WCW did occasionally get the opportunity to cross-promote as well. For Sprite, Sting got to pay little Timmy a visit from “The Dream Come True” foundation - evidently winning a match with The Icon.

After grabbing a swig of his favorite soft drink, The Stinger kicked the holy hell out of Timmy all over the poor kid’s house with mom and dad happily videotaping the ordeal. No false advertising here, Sprite just quenches thirst, it won’t turn you into a wrestling superstar.
8 Trish Stratus & Bubba Ray Dudley - Stacker 2
Two of the hottest entertainment properties of the early aughts were The Sopranos and WWE. The marketing mavens at Stacker 2 thought it would be a great idea to pair the two up in fun ways. Tony “Paulie Walnuts” Sirico played the role of a mob boss showing off his new product. Queue up the fitness bombshell Trish Stratus, much to the delight of Paulie’s captain who was quickly corrected as to what he should be paying attention to - Stacker 2. Bubba Ray Dudley got to ham it up as well in another spot serving as Paulie’s bodyguard.
7 Mankind - Chef Boyardee
Several years into his WWE run and the WWE Universe quickly learned that Mankind is as lovable a ham as he is a vicious psychopath. Chef Boyardee had the unique idea to showcase Mankind in his “natural habitat,” just like other animals like lions and zebras. Foley was shot in the middle of a field of empty Chef Boyardee cans having made a saucy mess of his shirt while giving his own call of the wild, “mmm beefy!”
6 The New Generation - Sports Center
During the mid-90s, despite the popularity of professional wrestling, mainstream sports shows like Sports Center didn’t show highlights of anyone’s matches. Several wrestlers seemed to take issue with this and stormed the offices of ESPN. King Kong Bundy was looking for his highlights.

Meanwhile, HBK and Diesel pin some hapless sportscaster’s head into the copy machine. Even The Undertaker and Paul Bearer got in on the gag, Dan Patrick tried to explain to them the difficulty of posting WWE highlights on the show.
5 Ric Flair - Woooo II Lottery
It might be professional wrestling’s greatest school that has yet to be realized - Wooooo! University. The school pretty much offers everything a Ric Flair fan could want. You can learn how to style and profile, throw a knife-edge chop, and, of course, how to “wooooo.” Much like his fan base for over 40 years, all of the enrolled students did their best Naitch impersonations, and it was all in the name of selling tickets for the North Carolina Wooooo II Lottery.
4 Andre The Giant - Honeycomb
During his time in WWE (and really on the planet), Andre The Giant was a true global and crossover star in the industry. During the '80s, The Boss was able to lend his massive self and show some brevity schilling the old school kid’s cereal Honeycomb. Some kids are hanging out in their clubhouse when the big nasty giant makes an appearance wanting some cereal. Cue up a silly '80s dance and some piss-poor dubbing of Andre and you have the makings of an it’s-so-bad-it’s-good commercial.
3 Bret Hart - Humpty’s Omelettes
It’s a long-held belief that Bret Hart is unquestionably the GOAT in the ring. However, one thing that The Hitman isn’t excellent at is humor. Bret was always so serious in the ring, and seemingly devoid of humor. But Bret was able to help out Canadian restaurant, Humpty’s Omelettes, and poke fun at himself as well. The Excellence Of Execution tried to out cook Humpty in an iron chef-style cook-off. When Bret lost, he proposed forming a tag team with the Eggman.
2 Brock Lesnar - SummerSlam 2003
Summertime is generally known as a time for all the big summer movie blockbusters. One of the first-ever big-time summer event movies was Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. The film scared plenty of people from ever heading into open water again. The WWE tapped into this when getting ready for the 2003 edition of SummerSlam.

When the beachgoers saw a shark this time, the ocean creature met its match when the Beast, Brock Lesnar headed right for the animal as beachgoers ran away from it. Lesnar then does what he does and F5’ed the massive man-eater.
1 WWE - Super Bowl Commercial
Vince McMahon decided to open the coffers big time to spend Budweiser money for a huge Super Bowl spot from 1999. The stars of the Attitude Era declared that the WWE was family entertainment while doing decidedly un-wholesome Attitude Era type things, using steel chairs and sex appeal to sell the product. The only bit funnier was the version that they didn’t use, where the Superstars were completely unapologetic about Attitude.
