10 Things AEW Does That Causes Us To Change The Channel
Ava Richardson AEW puts out a lot of great content regularly for fans, and its weekly television is often jam-packed with fantastic matches and memorable segments that entertain the fans. This is why the company has enjoyed so much success in such a short space of time, however not everything that Tony Khan puts on is perfect.

There are many aspects of AEW's shows that people don't enjoy, and certain things that take place end up making fans change the channel rather than keeping people entertained. This is all down to people's personal tastes, but it can lead to certain people not being interested in watching what happens.
10 Violent Stipulations
Stipulation matches can be a lot of fun, and they're often something that people look forward to. However, AEW often takes things to the extreme with their stipulations, with the lights-out matches being incredibly violent. This is the same as the death matches that the company often likes to put on.
These encounters will have wrestlers using some intense weapons and while many fans love watching that style of wrestling, there are just as many who hate it and will change the channel.
9 Overuse Of Blood
While blood tends to be common in the crazy stipulation matches that AEW puts on, that isn't the only place it takes place. More often than not there is blood on every show because that is what the company likes from its talent, and many of the wrestlers enjoy adding color.

This leads to blood happening in lots of standard matches as well. So, while fans might change the channel for certain stipulation bouts, they can also switch off when they see excessive blood in a normal encounter as well, particularly when it comes to younger viewers.
8 Bad Language
Something else that can make fans change the channel is poor language, which does take place at times on AEW television. While the company is more careful when it comes to swearing due to the impact it can have on television, it does happen.
This normally adds a lot of excitement and gets fun reactions from fans, but it isn't for everybody. For those watching with younger viewers, hearing wrestlers swearing can easily lead to them turning the channel.
7 Trash-Talking AEW
A confusing trope that AEW has ended up creating is having its own talent complain about the company regularly, trash-talking the promotion, or Tony Khan. It's something that can work for getting certain reactions, but it can also lead to fans looking at the company in a specific light.
Whether it's Eddie Kingston or MJF, seeing different wrestlers choose to just trash AEW and talk about the company as if it sucks can make fans change the channel. They will choose to believe the wrestler in question, leading to people turning off.
6 Overly Acrobatic Wrestling
AEW brings a wide variety of styles from powerhouse wrestling, technical masters, and high-flying talents. This is one of the reasons that the show is often a lot of fun to watch, however, not everybody loves the high-flying style.
Sometimes it can have an acrobatic feel that is a little over-rehearsed and while those matches are often gripping, certain fans simply don't enjoy that style. This can lead to them switching the channel during those matches, preferring something else.
5 Pre-Announcing Every Segment
Something that AEW likes to do is pre-announce everything that is going to happen on a show ahead of time so fans know exactly what to expect. This can be both a positive and negative situation. When fans tune into Raw and SmackDown they often don't know every single segment and the shows are a little more unpredictable.

That's not the case with AEW's shows, and that can lead to people changing the channel. If they see the segment or the match that they want to view, some fans might end up turning the channel off if they're not interested in what is next.
4 Poor Officiating
Referees might not be the focal point of professional wrestling, but when things aren't done right they can end up standing out too much. That has been the case at times in AEW, particularly during tag team matches where the rules have often not been followed.
It often ends up taking away from the match, and that's something that can distract people and become frustrating to watch. This has been a sticking point for plenty of fans who opt to stop watching and change the channel.
3 ROH Matches
This is a situation that is likely to stop happening now because ROH has got its own television show now, but because there is a crossover in the roster it can lead to ROH storylines and matches bleeding into AEW. While that can excite fans, some have no interest in it.
Seeing ROH matches happen on the show can take fans out of what is happening, and that can lead to them changing the channel as not everybody is invested in ROH.
2 Lack Of Women's Matches
The booking of AEW's women's division has been hit and miss at times, and while things have improved a lot there is often only a single segment involving them. It's a problem that fans would like to see change, as having multiple matches and segments with the ladies would help the overall product.

However, it is often just one match that takes place, and some fans can be frustrated by that. This can lead to some opting to just switch the channel after they've seen the women's encounter as they know no more is coming.
1 Rampage Often Doesn't Matter
With WWE, both Raw and SmackDown provide compelling viewing because they have different rosters and storylines that happen on each. However, the same cannot be said for AEW, as Rampage is often a show that can be skipped for fans as major talents and storylines don't end up happening on the show.
Fans might tune in to check it out, but when they see that it's just random matches, or stories they haven't already been invested in they can wind up changing the channel instead of sticking with it.
