10 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About AEW's Chris Jericho

Fans are well aware of all the achievements he has from title victories to memorable storylines, but that doesn't mean that people understand everything about him.

Audiences can have certain opinions or beliefs about him which are not always accurate, despite what people might think. People do get things wrong regarding Jericho regarding all aspects of his career despite how well-documented it is. However, people aren't able to watch and see everything, which is often where the confusion can begin.
10 He Hates Goldberg
Backstage arguments and fights take place in the wrestling business, and over the years Chris Jericho has been involved in plenty. He is someone that is more than happy to share his opinions and has no problem making his voice heard even if the other person is bigger and stronger than him.
This led to Jericho and Goldberg having issues during their time in WCW, which is why many fans think they hate each other. However, that isn't the case as even though there was a time when they didn't get along, the two of them are good friends nowadays.
9 His Catchphrases Always Work
Chris Jericho has been a true catchphrase king throughout his career, coming up with some amazing one-liners that have proven to become iconic. He has managed to get some ridiculous things over such as the word, 'It,' or the click of a pen, and that has led to people thinking he can get anything over.

However, while Jericho is very gifted at making things like this work that isn't the case for everything he has tried. Jericho's, "Rooty tooty booty," in WWE, or "GFY" in AEW are both examples of how even he can't get everything over.
8 He's Better As A Babyface
While everyone has their individual preference for wrestlers working as heels or babyfaces, when it comes to Chris Jericho the evidence is quite compelling that he is stronger as a heel. Jericho has been able to get over perfectly as a babyface over the years, but when it comes to the top level of the industry he hasn't been able to make that mark.
Every time Jericho has held the World Championship in any company he has done so as a heel. This proves that his character has arguably always been more compelling when working as a villain.
7 He Didn't Want An NXT Connection
When Chris Jericho first started his own personal cruises it was Ring Of Honor that he worked with, and since then it has been AEW stars that have put matches on the ship. However, that doesn't mean that he didn't want any connection with WWE, which was a company he'd worked with for the longest time.
That's because he originally pitched the idea to WWE, but the company rejected it. Jericho wanted NXT to be part of the cruise as the wrestling entertainment, and WWE rejecting that could've had a big impact on Jericho's decision to move on from WWE.
6 Not A Locker Room Leader
When it comes to Chris Jericho a lot of people like to point to some of his backstage arguments with the likes of Brock Lesnar or Goldberg, and at times audiences like to paint him out as selfish. However, he has proven himself over the years to be a great locker-room leader.
This has been particularly clear during his AEW run when there have been backstage issues such as the CM Punk controversy. Jericho took control of meetings with talent and ensured that he did everything possible to help the entire locker room.
5 Held The Intercontinental Championship The Longest
Chris Jericho is an iconic Intercontinental Champion, and because he's held the gold so many times over the years a lot of people think that he is the man who has held it the longest. That isn't the case though, as when it comes to days as champion Jericho ranks in 18th place for combined days holding the title.
The confusion comes because Jericho holds the record for having more Intercontinental Championship reigns than anybody else. It's a slightly different record, but an impressive one all the same.
4 He Doesn't Benefit Younger Talent
There are often criticisms about older talent not benefiting younger wrestlers in the company, but that isn't the case with Chris Jericho. Over the years he has always worked hard to put over other people to make sure that the future of the business is as strong as possible.
From putting over talent in WWE such as Fandango to aligning himself with lots of younger stars in AEW such as Daniel Garcia and Sammy Guevara, Jericho has constantly worked hard to help the future.
3 His WrestleMania 33 Match Wasn't Good
Once the clip went public of Vince McMahon telling Kevin Owens he wasn't happy with his WrestleMania 33 match against Chris Jericho there has been an opinion built that it wasn't a good encounter. That's not the case as the two of them had great chemistry and worked hard to entertain the fans.
It might not have been the greatest match of their careers, but it was certainly an entertaining bout. They were booked in a tough spot by going on second on the night which is a difficult match placement, but the match was certainly not a poor one.
2 He Fell Out With WWE
No matter how much work Chris Jericho does in AEW or NJPW, fans are always going to see Chris Jericho as a WWE guy. He made his name there and for years he claimed he'd never work for another person than Vince McMahon. He ultimately changed his mind because he felt he couldn't get any higher in WWE after not getting a main event spot against Kevin Owens.

However, Jericho hasn't fallen out with WWE. He still speaks glowingly about McMahon and admits he talks to him still, meanwhile, he is often positive about the product. Jericho even appeared on the WWE Network as an AEW star to be part of Steve Austin's Broken Skull Sessions show.
1 He's Past It
Whenever a wrestler gets to toward the latter stages of their career it can often be common for people to question whether they're still able to go at the highest level. That's a criticism that has certainly been lobbied toward Chris Jericho in recent years since his AEW career began, but there's no doubt that isn't the case.
While he might not be sprinting around the ring at the same speed, Jericho's match quality certainly hasn't dropped. 2022 was one of the greatest years of his career when it came to matches, and that was reflected in the high ratings he received, proving he can hang with the younger talent.
