10 Unintentionally Offended Mick Foley
Many fans will remember videos of Jon Moxley confronting Mick Foley when he was in WWE. There were plans for Moxley to make his main roster debut by having a storyline with Foley that played out in a hardcore match.

Moxley confronted Foley blaming him for a generation of wrestlers harming their bodies in hardcore matches. One request from Foley was to not mention his family via text, but Moxley didn’t get the messages when not having service during an overseas tour and kept it going. Foley sent a text criticizing Moxley for being unprofessional until he returned to the United States and explained the misunderstanding.
9 Was Hoping To Ruin WWE's WrestleMania 32 Plans
The road to WrestleMania 32 saw Triple H winning the WWE Championship and having a title defense against Jon Moxley before his WM match with Roman Reigns. Moxley and Triple H had a great match that helped the former’s argument for a main event push.
However, WWE had plans set for Reigns to dethrone Triple H and didn’t stray away from it. Moxley revealed in his book that he was holding out hope to throw a wrench in WWE’s plans if giving more momentum like Daniel Bryan did two years prior.
8 The Shield Talked WWE Management Into Changing Plans For First Loss
WWE protecting The Shield in the booking by having them keep their undefeated streak as a team and making all three members look strong were the keys to their success. The mistake of having them lose too early almost happened at Elimination Chamber 2013.
Jon Moxley shared that WWE wanted the face team of John Cena, Ryback and Sheamus to defeat them a few months into their debut. All three members made a pact that they’d tell management they weren’t losing to keep the act strong, but the creative team eventually agreed with them to change the finish.
7 Was Planning To Wrestle On Indie Scene After WWE

Moxley’s conversation saw them bonding over the same reasons Jericho chose to walk away and try new promotions. Jericho sold AEW as the right place for Moxley who didn’t realize how big it would be. The conversations with Jericho and Tony Khan convinced Moxley to be part of the first Double or Nothing event in 2019.

Kevin Dunn is one of the most hated figures in WWE by wrestlers who share details after leaving the company. Jon Moxley gave his account of the political game played by Dunn after he accidentally cursed during a television segment.

Other employees told Moxley to go to the production truck to apologize to Dunn. Moxley felt that things were fine after having a generally positive conversation with an apology. Michael Hayes later told Moxley that Dunn didn’t feel it was the “right kind of apology” and it could have lingered for more heat. Moxley let out a few expletives when ending the chapter on his feelings about Dunn.
4 Roman Informed Him Of His WWE Championship Win
The WWE Championship for Jon Moxley at Money in the Bank 2016 was the high point of his time in the company. WWE had a unique ending to the night with Seth Rollins beating Roman Reigns for the title before Moxley cashed in MITB to close the night as WWE Champion.
Moxley explained that Roman was the one to talk both him and Seth about the plans for the night after meeting with Vince McMahon. Reigns was getting suspended for violating the wellness policy and was happy that his close friend was going to have a big moment on the bittersweet night.
3 Felt Triple H Was Condescending To Him
The AEW finishing move of Jon Moxley is called the Paradigm Shift and it is a referencing to his WWE time with The Shield. Triple H used that phrase when explaining the impact that all three members of The Shield were having in WWE.
However, Moxley revealed he felt a bit offended at the tone Triple H used as if they weren’t smart enough to understand the phrase. Triple H shrugged it off when Moxley responded a bit aggressively in what was likely an overblown scenario.
2 Bryan Danielson Warned Him Not To Ask Anyone For Advice In WWE
Jon Moxley made a few appearances for WWE on the main roster when top developmental names were tested out on house shows. The first night of a tour saw Moxley getting confronted by Bryan Danielson when no one else was around.
Bryan informed Moxley that it was best to not ask for advice like other newcomers do since it can lead to backstage heat. A wrestler not following through a bad idea was often looked at as disrespectful and could harm their career either way.
1 Big E Was Originally Meant To Be In The Shield
WWE had huge plans for The Shield when looking to form a group of top developmental stars to help CM Punk retain the WWE Championship. Jon Moxley revealed in his book that another noteworthy name was flown out with him, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.
Big E was originally considered to be a fourth member of The Shield, but WWE ended up deciding to only want the eventual three total members. The main roster call-up of Big E was put on hold until the following year. Things worked out for him as the path to forming New Day was Big E’s best scenario.
