It was always going to be tough for WWE to replicate a red-hot tag team division in the Ruthless Aggression Era from what they had in the Attitude Era with many of the all-time great tag teams splitting up. The likes of Edge and Christian became singles competitors as did the Hardys although they reunited for a few months in 2006 and 2007, and the Dudley Boyz left WWE in 2005. Nevertheless, the brand split was in place and there were opportunities for new tag teams to get their hands on some gold. The World Tag Team Championship resided on Raw, and the WWE Tag Team Championship could be defended on SmackDown and ECW.

Tag team wrestling in the Ruthless Aggression Era wasn't as strong as the Attitude Era, but there were still some excellent tag teams. Some WWE Tag Team Champions were likable, but others were disliked.

10 La Resistance

La Resistance was one of the most hated tag teams in the Ruthless Aggression Era. Rene Dupree and Sylvain Grenier defeated Rob Van Dam and Kane for the World Tag Team Championship at Bad Blood 2003 to become World Tag Team Champions.

Rob Conway joined the group in the summer of 2003, and they became a trio. However, after they dropped the Tag Team Titles to the Dudleys at Unforgiven, Grenier was injured with Conway and Dupree becoming a tag team. Their most successful stint was when Dupree was drafted to SmackDown in 2004, and Grenier and Conway became three-time WWE Tag Team Champions.

9 The Miz & John Morrison

The Miz and John Morrison were both on Tough Enough in the past, and they had successful runs in WWE. Miz and Morrison were a fantastic duo, and they were both good talkers on the mic. Their Dirt Sheet skits were hilarious, and Miz and Morrison had a long run as WWE Tag Team Champions.

Miz and Morrison held the titles for eight months, and it was the right call as they brought some prestige back to the WWE Tag Team Championship. They were an entertaining duo as heels, but the WWE Universe was pleased to see them get their comeuppance.

8 MNM

The trio of Mercury, Nitro, and Melina were one of the best heel trios in the Ruthless Aggression Era. Mercury and Nitro won the WWE Tag Team Championship three times with victories over the likes of Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, LOD, and Batista and Mysterio.

Melina was the popular one out of the trio because of her unique in-ring entrance that caught the attention of the fans. Nevertheless, Mercury and Nitro were one of the top teams in the Ruthless Aggression Era and they were highly successful.

7 Kane & Big Show

Kane and Big Show became tag team partners as they were not selected to join the triple threat match for the WWE Championship at Taboo Tuesday 2005. Kane and Show were former rivals, and they combined to beat Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch for the World Tag Team Championship.

Fans enjoy watching dominant big men work as cohesive units, and Kane and Big Show did just that. They dominated the tag team division on Raw, and they were a force to be reckoned with. The former World Champions were household names in the wrestling business, and they did a good job as Tag Team Champions.

6 Rated-RKO

Randy Orton and Edge were former World Champions but they found themselves involved in a feud with DX in the fall of 2006. Rated-RKO was a short-lived partnership but Orton and Edge had good chemistry. It worked well as they both could talk on the mic, they were heels and they were superb in-ring performers.

Rated-RKO defeated "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Ric Flair for the World Tag Team Championship on the November 13, 2006, edition of Raw. They were champions for two months with John Cena and Shawn Michaels beating him for the gold.

5 Booker T & Goldust

The tag team partnership of Booker T and Goldust came about when Booker was a member of the nWo in 2002. Goldust wanted Booker to leave the group, and he was booted out of the nWo. Nevertheless, this makeshift partnership of Booker T and Goldust was comedic, and they won the World Tag Team Championship at Armageddon 2002.

This run did Booker some good as he went on to become the number one contender for Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 19. Both Booker and Goldust benefitted from this partnership as they were floundering on the card, and they were a loveable duo with whom the fans connected on Raw.

4 Los Guerreros

Eddie Guerrero teamed up with his nephew Chavo Guerrero as Los Guerreros, and they were an outstanding tag team on SmackDown. Their chemistry together was natural and their entertaining skits together were fun to watch.

Los Guerreros won the WWE Tag Team Championship twice, and in their second reign as champions, Eddie was a double champion as he held the WWE United States Championship. Los Guerreros were originally heels, but they became babyfaces with the WWE Universe supporting them.

3 Brian Kendrick & Paul London

Brian Kendrick and Paul London were two cruiserweights competing in the cruiserweight division in the Ruthless Aggression Era, and they became a tag team. London and Kendrick ended MNM's WWE Tag Team Championship run at Judgment Day 2006, and they went on to hold the WWE Tag Team Championship for 11 months.

Kendrick and London captivated the audience with their fast-paced style of wrestling and they took the tag team division by storm on the blue brand. They managed to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship at Armageddon 2006 in a ladder match which was infamous for Joey Mercury breaking his nose. However, their title run was curtailed by Deuce 'n' Domino on an episode of SmackDown in April 2007.

2 Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio

The legitimate close friendship between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio was brought to life on-screen in early 2005. A year after winning the WWE Championship at No Way Out, Guerrero and Mysterio combined to beat the Basham Brothers for the WWE Tag Team Championship at the same event.

Cracks began to show in Guerrero and Mysterio's alliance as they became the first reigning Tag Team Champions to clash at WrestleMania. They did that in the curtain-raiser at WrestleMania 21 with Mysterio prevailing. Moreover, they were loved by the WWE Universe, and Mysterio and thousands worldwide were devastated when Eddie passed away in November 2005 at the age of just 38.

1 The Hardys

Jeff Hardy returned to WWE in 2006 after a three-year hiatus, and he quickly won the Intercontinental Championship from Johnny Nitro. Jeff and his brother Matt quickly reunited, and the Hardys were back on the same page despite Jeff being on Raw, and Matt representing SmackDown they appeared on both brands.

On the Raw after WrestleMania 23, the Hardys won a battle royal to become seven-time Tag Team Champions. Fans love the Hardys and seeing them on the same page has always worked out better instead of them being rivals. Their popularity was unrivaled which was no surprise.
