13 Dream Matches For Edge In AEW
Andrew Patterson Read update
- With Adam Copeland now officially making his debut after the main event of the New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling event WrestleDream, the idea of these dream matches for Edge has suddenly become less of a dream and more of a reality. Now taking a look at the current roster and taking into consideration some of the people that Edge named off himself as matches that he wants, let's see a few extra matches that could help put some people in seats for a Dynamite or an upcoming AEW PPV. Plus maybe a slight inclusion of a Wrestle Kingdom event in NJPW as again Edge himself stated he wants to wrestle there and has a dream match he hopes can come to fruition. After tonight's match between Edge & Luchasaurus, this is what we want to see next.
Edge recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his career with a match against Sheamus, which he confirmed was the last on his current WWE contract. It has opened up speculation about what the Rated-R Superstar will do next, and while he might end up re-signing with WWE, the possibility of him joining AEW can't be ruled out.

Tony Khan attempted to sign Edge before he made his in-ring return from retirement, and with his best friend Christian Cage already on the roster there could be some enticement. While the future remains unclear right now, no doubt joining AEW would open up a laundry list of potential dream matches for him to sink his teeth into, especially while he's still performing at such a high level.

With Adam Copeland now officially making his debut after the main event of the New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling event WrestleDream, the idea of these dream matches for Edge has suddenly become less of a dream and more of a reality.
13 Kenny Omega
Whenever anybody new joins AEW, Kenny Omega is instantly brought up as a potential dream match simply due to how good he is. The Elite member is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, therefore it is only natural that fans would want to see what a match between him and Edge would look like.
Edge is a master at telling a story within a match, taking his time to go through things and putting that against Omega's natural in-ring talent would likely create something very special. Following in the footsteps of Chris Jericho and Omega, this all-Canadian dream match would surely be one to remember.
12 Claudio Castagnoli
It might seem a bit surprising that Claudio Castagnoli and Adam Copeland never got to have a match against each other. The closest the two ever got to that moment was during the 2020 and 2021 Royal Rumble matches. During the post-PPV media scrum after WrestleDream, Copeland admitted that Claudio and others were some of the names that he was excited to wrestle.
The intense and hard-hitting style that Claudio wrestles going up against the more veteran and clever style that Edge utilizes could prove to make a great match.
11 Jon Moxley
Much like his Blackpool Combat Club ally Claudio, Adam Copeland and Jon Moxley never got the chance to stand off against each other in a WWE ring while working there. Edge was retired for most of Moxley's time in the promotion and by the 2020 Rumble when Edge returned, Moxley had already left for AEW.
With Moxley being one of the biggest names for the promotion, a match between these two seems like a no-brainer with Copeland even stating he really wants it. Just throwing out the idea of a feud featuring Copeland vs. the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club could make for some really great television.
10 FTR
Another obvious dream match for Edge would be getting the chance to tangle against FTR. Edge is a tag team specialist and if he did join AEW then seeing him team up with Christian Cage once again would be high on the bucket list for most wrestling fans due to nostalgia.

FTR are one of the best teams in the world right now, and they also happen to be good personal friends with Edge. Seeing them mix it up with the psychology that all four of those men have would likely lead to an amazing encounter that could be a lot of fun to see take place.
9 The Young Bucks
Another great tag team match that people would love to see is Edge and Christian against The Young Bucks, which would be an iconic encounter to take place. They are two of the greatest tag teams in history and while they have differing styles, that is something that often makes for great matches.
Both teams also don't take themselves too seriously, and while people would want to see a great match as a result, the build to this is something that they could have a lot of fun with.
8 Christian Cage
Christian Cage has easily been doing some of the best work of his entire 20-plus years career in AEW. The obvious option of having Edge come out after Christian's match at WrestleDream was a no-brainer and the promotion seems to be setting up a match between the two.
The two have wrestled each other before of course including tag matches, triple threats, and plain singles matches. With Christian now being one of the biggest heels and most entertaining characters in all of AEW, a feud between these two could provide some hilarious and amazing moments. Christian telling Edge to "go f*** yourself" after his Dynamite promo already has fans talking.
7 Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe and Edge might be two veterans coming toward the end of their careers, but seeing them compete against each other would be a real dream match. They're two incredible wrestlers who have unfortunately just missed each other over the years, but seeing them go back and forth would be brilliant.
They wouldn't need to hit tons of high-flying, fast-paced moves, instead, they could tell a clever story filled with psychology and selling. Edge is brilliant at making others look dominant and a physical bout against Joe would play into both of their strengths.
6 Kazuchika Okada
Now this might be a little bit of cheating, but Copeland once again stated the things that he can and now wants to do since he is officially with AEW. Edge said he hasn't ever gotten the chance to wrestle at a Wrestle Kingdom event and hopes that he will be able to do so.
Similar to Kenny Omega and how everyone who debuts in AEW admits that they want to wrestle him, the first name most people think of with NJPW is Kazuchika Okada. Copeland said "How about a match against Kazuchika Okada? That would be pretty cool. I'm pretty excited by that" during the WrestleDream media scrum.

5 Konosuke Takeshita
Edge is someone who always wants to work with younger talent to help wrestlers grow and progress and right now Konosuke Takeshita is one of the most exciting upcoming talents in the company. His hard-hitting style is something that would work nicely against Edge's more technical work, and it could create an incredible match.
Edge is somebody that Takeshita could learn from a lot due to the experience that he brings to the ring. Edge always works well with taller wrestlers, and the power that Takeshita shows could create a brilliant encounter.
4 Jay White
Jay White brings tons of energy and a unique personality to the ring, and it is quite easy to see how he has drawn comparisons to a younger version of Edge. The sneaky way he behaves and how he will take cheap tricks to get advantages is very similar to what Edge would do as a heel.
The two of them would create magic inside the wrestling ring as Edge would easily be able to keep up with White. The technique that both men bring would tell a fantastic story as well, with this being one encounter that has a lot of potential.
3 Malakai Black
Edge has had no problem tapping into his darker sides over the years, and that is why a storyline against Malakai Black is something that people would enjoy seeing. While the promos and mind games would likely be brilliant it is the match itself that would be fantastic.
Black's striking ability is something that Edge would sell perfectly as he would be more than capable of selling the damage to make Black look impressive. That's something that would likely fire fans up to be behind him, and that would only improve the match itself.
2 Adam Cole
Adam Cole vs. Edge is a blockbuster match that AEW could book as the in-ring contest would be fantastic to see. Cole knows how to tell a story inside the ring, and has no problem ramping things up and taking risks when needed, much like the Rated-R Superstar.

There are plenty of similarities between the two of them when it comes to their in-ring style, and that is something that would lead to an engaging contest that audiences certainly want to see.
1 MJF
Ultimately the biggest dream match for Edge in AEW would be to see him collide against MJF, who is the top star in the company right now. MJF is an amazing talker and someone who knows how to build a great story and then deliver inside the ring, which is the same for Edge.
Putting them against each other would be very exciting as either man could take up the heel and babyface dynamic, and the promos between them would be superb. Meanwhile, inside the ring, it is easy to imagine how enjoyable a match between them would end up being, as they're both stars who always provide quality.
