45 Park Place will debut nearly 10 years after its original inception (Rendering: SOMA Architects, Construction Photo: CityRealty)In December, construction on Soho Properties' 45 Park Place had just risen above street level, and now, the 43-story condo tower is 9 stories up, according to photos CityRealty took yesterday of the site.45 Park Place is 9 stories tall and rising(CityRealty)If you recall, some version of the Tribeca project has been in the works since 2010 (a mosque was originally proposed) but in 2019, 45 Park Place will finally open its doors. In the meantime, the residential building has debuted animated renderings that give us a taste of what living in the luxury glass tower will feel like.Architectural Digest recently sat down with the building's interior designer, Piero Lissoni, to discuss these new visuals.Open living and dining area. 45 Park Place, which is Lissoni's first New York project, features 50 residences that are "elegant and contemporary, while still evoking a sense of home." For him, it was all about the details – "Every surface and fixture was thoughtfully selected to maximize light and space and enhance function. Custom glass hoods and centerpiece backlit glass pantries in the kitchens, flush-mount doors and baseboards, and textured Pietra d’Avola raw limestone in the tower residence master baths are some of the choices that bring this vision to life."

The base of the tower will offer loft-like homes and the top floors will offer exclusive full-floor residences that provide stunning 360-degree views of the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade Center, New York Harbor, and the Empire State Building. Topping it all off are two duplex penthouses that feature dramatic Lissoni-designed sculptural staircases.

The amenities collection was also envisioned by Lissoni and meant to be an extension of the luxurious homes. It will span an impressive three levels and include a pool and spa, a state-of-the-art gym and yoga studio, a private residents' lounge, and a children's play space.

Lissoni goes on to say, "You want to create a place that speaks to their humanity. It must feel comfortable and like their own. Creating someone’s home is always a very intimate endeavor."

Michel Abboud of SOMA Architects designed the skyscraper and Pritzker Prize winner Jean Nouvel will be designing the residential building's serenity garden as well as the adjacent Islamic Cultural Center. Permits for that are still awaiting approval.
