AEW Dynamite was a pretty big deal this week. Perhaps an attempt to steal away some of the headlines from what's going on in WWE right now, and also trying to appease fans who were expecting to see Mercedes Mone on the show. Dynamite opened with Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page, ended with a Trios Titles ladder match, and during the first hour, the return of Adam Cole.

Adam Cole Is Back

Tony Schiavone took to the ring to introduce Cole, not mentioning his name but admitting he took no pleasure in welcoming this person back. A hint at whose music was about to hit due to the amusing rivalry the two have that revolves around Britt Baker. Cole's music then hit to a huge reaction from the fans.

Cole grabbed a mic and took some time to explain what has been happening to him over the past six months. A particularly emotional moment came when Cole revealed there was a point where his head and shoulder injuries were so severe, he couldn't be in a car for more than ten minutes without needing to vomit. He even admitted emotionally telling Baker that he was scared as he didn't know what was wrong with him.

Cole Had Some Bad News

After that, Cole told fans he had some bad news, but he didn't leave them hanging for long. The next sentence out of his mouth confirmed the bad news wasn't for him, but for everyone else in the AEW locker room. The former NXT Champion confirmed he's back, putting everyone on notice in the process. At the time of typing this, Cole's first match back has not been revealed.

It has been more than six months since Cole last wrestled. The leader of reDragon was part of a four-way match for the IWGP Title at Forbidden Door. A match that appeared to come to a premature end after Cole suffered what now seems to have clearly been a pretty severe concussion. The IWGP Title has changed hands since then as Kazuchika Okada won the championship at Wrestle Kingdom. Former champion Jay White is rumored to be leaving NJPW and might well show up in AEW soon.
