AEW Crowd Appears To Turn On Ruby Soho Following Win Over Kris Statlander
Emma Powell Ruby Soho qualified for the finals of the inaugural Owen Hart Foundation Tournament with a win over Kris Statlander on the Double Or Nothing go-home edition of AEW Rampage on TBS ... but the crowd was not happy.
It all went down in Las Vegas on May 27, just a few days before the fourth annual AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view. In the main event of Rampage, Ruby Soho and Kris Statlander battled it out in a semi-final match to determine who would face Britt Baker at the big show on Sunday, which will emanate live from the T-Mobile Arena.
Prior to the match, the two women cut side-by-side split-screen promos on each other. Statlander's promo was so passionate that she instantly won the adulation of the crowd, who were on her side throughout the match that followed. The crowd's energy served Statlander well, and the momentum was on her side for a large portion of the babyface vs. babyface match ... but then Soho used an Oklahoma Roll to score a pinfall victory out of nowhere, much to the crowd's chagrin.

As the crowd booed her (and the outcome of the match) Soho celebrated her victory. Then Britt Baker's music started playing and the DMD herself emerged on the ramp, mic in hand. Brit didn't get a chance to say anything, though, as Ruby started talking first. The crowd booed Soho, but she rolled with punches. She told the crowd that she did what she had to, and sent a warning to Baker.
Sunday's match will be Soh's second AEW tournament final. Back in January, Jade Cargill became the first-ever TBS Champion when she defeated Soho in the final match of the TBS Championship Tournament.
The artist formerly known as Ruby Riott was released by WWE along with several of her now-former colleagues on the morning of Wednesday, June 2. Other big names released that day include Braun Strowman and Aleister Black. Shortly after being released, Riott changed her ring name to Ruby Soho, a homage to the 1995 Rancid song of the same name which she used as her entrance music as she made her way to the ring at All Out. Soho went on to win the Casino Battle Royale moments later by last eliminating Thunder Rosa.
