AEW Officially Signs Will Hobbs To Contract
Emma Horne On Wednesday, AEW confirmed that it had officially signed Will Hobbs, aka The Embodiment Of Willpower, to contract. A few weeks ago, the 240-lb wrestler debuted on Dynamite where he lost to Darby Allin, who will be the third member of Team Moxley along with Hobbs.
Hobbs, who is reportedly being pushed by Tony Khan, went on to participate in the 21-Man Casino Battle Royale at All Out where he had one elimination before going onto the final with six other competitors. He was ultimately eliminated by Lance Archer. Hobbs, a former indie wrestler, has also appeared numerous times on AEW Dark where he has won his last two matches.

On last night’s Dynamite, Archer formed an alliance with Brian Cage and Ricky Starks to defeat Jon Moxley for the world title on AEW’s anniversary show next month. Moxley, who was jumped from behind by Starks and Cage, was rescued by Hobbs. The wrestler will now join Moxley and Allin for a six-man tag next week on Dynamite against Archer, Cage, and Starks.
There have been hints that AEW has big plans for Hobbs. At Casino Battle Royale, the wrestler had the longest survival time at 16 minutes 8 seconds, more than three minutes longer than Brian Cage. Hobbs, a 10-year veteran of the West Coast indie circuit, trained at the APW Boot Camp under Michael Modest, Donovan Morgan, and Frank Murdoch, and made his debut with All Pro Wrestling (APW) in 2009 in a Battle Royal for the #1 Contendership for the APW Worldwide Internet Championship.
In 2012, the wrestler, using the name Will Rood, began performing outside of APW in other West Coast promotions, like Pro Championship Wrestling (PCW), Sacramento Wrestling Federation (SWF), Gold Rush Pro and Supreme Pro.
That same year, though, he won the APW Worldwide Internet Championship twice and the PCW Tag Team titles with Mitch Valentine in The Dream Team. Since his debut, Hobbs has won numerous titles, including the APW Tag Team Champion alongside Marcus Lewis in Lion Power three times. As of now, his future at AEW couldn’t look brighter.
