Emily Bell Professional Background
Dr. Amy Garcia is an Associate Clinical Professor and Director of Practice at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, department of Innovation and Practice. She has expertise in leadership, health policy and informatics.
Previously, Amy served as a Director and Chief Nursing Officer for Cerner Corporation from 2013-2017 specializing in nursing documentation, scheduling and staffing systems.
Dr. Garcia served as the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Programs Officer for the American Nurses Association from 2011-2012. She served as a key member of the executive team, and was responsible for all public facing programs, including policy, advocacy, ethics, work environment and quality of care.
Dr. Garcia served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Association of School Nurses from 2006-2011. Her work at NASN included policy, advocacy, programs and research support for children’s health and the profession of school nursing.
Amy has experience in direct patient care, hospital administration and risk management. She holds a Masters in Nursing Science from Wichita State University and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from American Sentinel University.
