Chef Leon Walker Rumored to Be Joining Australia Spinoff
Mia Russell Chef Leon Walker could potentially be on the cast for the upcoming Below Deck spinoff, Below Deck Down Under, and fans aren't exactly thrilled.
Chef Leon Walker could be gearing up to make his Below Deck comeback in Bravo's newest spinoff of the popular show, Below Deck Down Under. During his half-a-season on Below Deck, Chef Leon definitely made his mark. Over the course of his season, Leon made a habit out of ignoring the preferences of charter guests and constantly creating lackluster dishes. In addition to poorly managing the galley, Leon could not get on the same page with Chief Stew Kate Chastain. When Kate questioned Leon's credentials early in the season, their relationship took a nasty turn, and it became clear the two would not be friends. It comes as no shock that one of Leon's closest allies that season was third stew Rocky, who also didn't get along with Kate.
About halfway through the charter season, Leon's tenure on Below Deck came to an end when Captain Lee fired him as the yacht chef. Leon's firing came after the kitchen caught fire while Kate and Rocky were making a pizza for the charter guests late in the night. Captain Lee took this very seriously and was on a mission to find out what exactly caught the fire. After an investigation, Captain Lee came to the conclusion that Leon was to blame as he forgot to clean the oven prior to them making the pizzas. This led to a greasy oven and the fire. Leon was replaced by season one and two chef, Ben Robinson, who got along better with the crew as a whole and never forgot to clean the oven.
Chef Leon may have said goodbye to Below Deck, but not to Bravo, as he potentially said hello to Below Deck Down Under. Rumors are swirling that Chef Leon could be returning to our screens in the new Bravo show. The So Dramatic Podcast posted a picture of Leon on its Instagram, claiming he has been seen in the area. According to them, Leon was seen walking around Hamilton Island, which is where Thalassa, the boat being used for the Australian season of Below Deck, is currently docked. There could be a lot of reasons why Leon is in Australia, one of them being business that is not associated with appearing on the Bravo show, as many Reddit users pointed out.
The internet has a lot of opinions on Leon's potential return to the popular Bravo franchise, and not many of them are in Leon's favor. One Reddit commenter called Leon boring and said his food was uninspired. Most were commenting on the fact that the whole time Leon was on the show, it seemed like he was miserable in his job, leading them to wonder why he would even want to do it again. One even went as far as saying they won't watch the show if Leon is on it. Their argument was that there are so many talented chefs in Australia that it would basically be a crime to go with Leon.
It will be interesting to see if any of the viewers' favorite Australian crew members will join the series since it is filming in their country. There isn't a very high chance that Hannah Ferrier from Below Deck Med would join, considering she is a happy new mom. Audiences could potentially see Ashling or Francesca return, or even fan-favorite Aesha. There have been many Australian crew members, and fans would love to see them all come together and work all in one yacht. That announcement would definitely draw viewers' attention, and make Below Deck Down Under a success.
