Cody Rhodes Continues To Tease Winged Eagle's Return If He Becomes WWE Champion
James Austin Cody Rhodes is back after recovering from a torn pec. Not only is he back, but he has won the Royal Rumble, and he has made it clear he intends to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. That's naturally a given as it stands since The Tribal Chief currently has both WWE's World Titles. However, Rhodes has previously hinted he is only interested in one of Reigns' belts.
The Winged Eagle
The night after Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38, The American Nightmare cut a passionate promo during which he outlined exactly why he had come back. To do the one thing his dad Dusty Rhodes never did and win the WWE Championship. After that, Rhodes subtly teased, and even overtly said, that should he ever achieve that, he'd like to bring back the Winged Eagle version of the title.

Rhodes might have been focused on repairing his pec for the last seven months, but he hasn't forgotten what he teased. Shortly after winning the Rumble on Saturday, Rhodes posted a photo of the Winged Eagle title to his Instagram story. Further confirmation that Rhodes will be doing all he can to trade in the current WWE Title, if he wins it, for what might well be the most popular design in the championship's history.
The Title Dusty Would Have Won
Despite being the best-looking title WWE has ever had for a lot of people, there's likely historical significance surrounding it for Rhodes. If Dusty had become WWE Champion, that would have almost definitely been the title he held. The only people Rhodes will need to convince if he does want to bring the design back if he wins are the people running WWE.
There's a reason WWE's current World Title designs are very different from the ones from the Winged Eagle era. The company's logo is right there in the middle and about as big as it possibly can be without spilling over the sides. Winners of its World Titles have been given their own unique championships in the past, but whether WWE would be willing to sacrifice the current design for one that is now more than 30 years old remains unclear.
