Ava Richardson You'll find the cost of an education at the University of Kansas is competitive with other top doctoral programs in physical therapy. This includes the requirement of a $400 non-refundable tuition fee deposit to reserve a spot in the next physical therapy class at KU Medical Center.
You pay tuition and fees at the beginning of each semester. The Kansas Board of Regents establishes tuition and fees, and they may change at any time without notice.

Requirements for Kansas In-state Tuition Eligibility
Very specific requirements must be met to qualify for Kansas resident tuition rates. Our program does not have tuition compacts or agreements with neighboring states, including Missouri. If you are a resident of any state other than Kansas, even if living just blocks away from the KU Medical Center campus in Kansas City, Kansas, you will be considered a non-resident applicant. * The program is three years, full-time study (nine semesters); however, summer term campus fees are not charged to students in years 2 and 3 of the program.
Additional Expenses
The following items are required for students, but are not paid directly to KU; therefore, costs may not be determined by the program.
- Background check report – includes a one-time fee is paid by the student directly to reporting agency after admission to the program. See details. In addition, a drug screening may be required for students in the program participating at clinical sites.
- Computer – must meet the program's minimum technology requirements.
- Textbooks and other learning materials ($1,300 per year, estimated).
- Room and board, transportation and other needs.
