Former 'Interview' Editor-in-Chief Was 63
Matthew Harrington Ingrid Sischy, the former editor-in-chief of Interview, died Friday morning in New York. She was 63.
WWD reports that the cause of death was breast cancer.

Sischy was highly admired in the fashion and art industry, having been a photography and fashion critic for The New Yorker from 1988 to 1996 and editor of Interview from 1989 to 1998. Sischy also served as a contributing editor at Vanity Fair where she wrote cover stories about Kristen Stewart and Madonna, as well as features on John Galliano and Alexander McQueen.
The news of Sischy’s death have left the industry in mourning, including Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Graydon Carter, who wrote in remembrance: “The thing about Ingrid was that although she was friendly with just about everyone in the fashion world — her closest confidants were Miuccia Prada and Karl Lagerfeld — when she sat down to write, she looked for truth, not fantasy.”
Sischy is survived by her partner, Sandra Brant, who was the president and publisher of Interview, her mother, Claire, and brother, David Sischy.
