Jane Broxterman
Emily Bell Professional Background
Clinic, General Internal Medicine Clinic. My academic appointment began in November, 2007. My clinical work was initially 80% ambulatory, and 20% hospitalist. In 2008, I transitioned my inpatient service time from academic hospitalist teaching services, to become part of the inpatient palliative care consultant team. I continued the majority of my clinical work in the ambulatory setting, and staffed the palliative care consult service 8 weeks of the year. I continued this patient care combination through June, 2011. In July, 2011, I fully transitioned all of my patient care to ambulatory medicine. I currently am 50% clinical, and 50% academic resident education. I have the equivalent of 5 clinic sessions weekly, which is a combination of private clinics, and resident precepting clinics. I see and care for complex adults as their primary care physician. I have a personal panel size of approximately 600 patients, and with my resident teaching practice, I oversee and manage an additional 350 patients. Since my initial appointment, I have met, or exceeded, all of my work RVU targets as set by the Department of Medicine based on national MGMA practice metrics.
Not only am I productive in my division, I have also delivered high-quality care, and am considered cost-saving for third-party insurance carriers. In addition to practicing cost-conscious care, I have a very high patient satisfaction rating. I am consistently evaluated as a "top box" physician, and in 2020, ranked #1 in the entire health system, in which every patient that evaluated me, rated me as "top box." 2020 was the inaugural year of this award.
