The Madden Brothers stopped by the Herald office today to answer your questions in a live Q&A session.

ZM presenter Jay Reeve hosted the session - putting readers questions to the twin brothers.

So just what did you ask the chart topping rockers?

Rebecca wanted to know what the craziest thing that had ever happened to the boys was.

The answer? Getting a record deal.

"It was like something out of a movie," said Joel Madden.

"The chances of us getting a record deal, oh man, it was really, really slim," added brother Benji.

Another reader, Hemwin, asked: What is some advice you can give to up and coming bands?

Joel replied: "We live in times when, more than ever, you can get your music out. Get educated, figure it out and do your own thing. There's no golden ticket, the work never ends."

"If you're making great music it will always find it's way," added Benji.

As for their new sound - ditching their former punk pop banner Good Charlotte and rebranding as The Madden Brothers this year - Cait asked how the band's demographic has changed now?

"The Madden Brothers is a little broader than Good Charlotte. The whole family can put the record on."

The former Good Charlotte rockers are in the country to promote their new album, having already hit the top 10 with their debut single We Are Done.

After nearly 20 years performing under the pop punk banner Good Charlotte, the twin brothers rebranded this year, releasing the album Greetings From California as The Madden Brothers.
