Yanmega is a Pokémon that has a special evolution method in Pokémon BDSP. Players will need to teach their Yanma the move Ancient Power.

Yanma is one of the many Pokémon to receive an evolution with Yanmega in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. When the original games were released back on the Nintendo DS, players were eager to jump into an entirely new roster of Pokémon to capture. As a surprise to many, some of the best Pokémon from this generation are evolutions of Pokémon from previous games. For example, players can now evolve their Piloswine into Mamoswine, an incredibly powerful Ground/Ice-type Pokémon. Yanma is also a Pokémon that originated from Pokémon Gold and Silver that got a new evolution in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. With these new evolutions come entirely new ways of evolving Pokémon in general.

First, players will need to capture Yanma and evolve it. Yanmega is a Pokémon that does not appear in the overworld for players to capture. The only way to obtain it is through evolution or trading. To find Yanma, players will need to head to the Great Marsh. It has a 20% chance of appearing no matter the situation with the weather. This is the only location it will appear in besides spawning in the Grand Underground. It will appear from level 20 to level 26, making it super easy to capture for players who reached the postgame.

In order to evolve Yanma into Yanmega in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, players will first need to teach Yanma the move 'Ancient Power'. Fortunately, players don't need to do much to get Ancient Power. Yanma will learn Ancient Power at level 33. Once the move is learned, players just need to level up one more time and it will evolve into Yanmega. Although, there might be situations where the Yanma is already over level 33 and doesn't have Ancient Power.

All The Ways To Learn Moves in Pokémon BDSP

It's possible for Diamond and Pearl players to capture a Yanma that appeared in the Grand Underground that's over level 33. If this happens, players will need to take the Yanma over to the Move Relearner to relearn moves. This NPC can be found to the south of the Great Marsh and will teach Yanma Ancient Power. The Move Relearner will only teach the trainer's Pokémon an old move if they provide them with a Heart Scale.

Heart Scales are valuable items to many NPCs in the Sinnoh region and many will pay a high dollar for them. In the case of the Move Relearner, players can give him up 10 10 Heart Scales to learn moves. After 10 Heart Scales have been submitted, he will no longer charge the player. Trainers can also find Heart Scales while mining in the Grand Underground. Use it to teach Yanma Ancient Power and add Yanmega to the collection.
