Robert Roode Undergoes Neck Fusion Surgery
Robert Roode has revealed that he underwent a successful neck fusion surgery, posting a picture of him afterwards recovering in his hospital bed. Roode received a fusion of the C5-C6 vertebrae, a procedure that many wrestlers have had to prolong their in-ring careers. Roode also received his treatment from the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Birmingham, AL, a team that has provided treatment to many WWE superstars and other elite athletes in the past.
In his Instagram post, Roode stated that he is 'looking forward to the challenge' of rehab. Healing from the surgery and getting back into a position where Roode can comfortably compete again may well be a lengthy road considering the nature of the surgery. Roode's last televised appearance was in this year's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale on the SmackDown! before WrestleMania, having then had his last house show match in June.

What's Next For Robert Roode?
Having been out of action since the summer, Robert Roode has yet to compete under the WWE's new creative regime. Having been skyrocketed to the NXT Championship in 2017, and holding the belt for much of that year, Roode was a clear favorite of Triple H during his time overseeing the developmental brand. Given how Triple H has rejuvenated several of his developmental projects that may have lost some of their luster on the main roster, it stands to reason that a Robert Roode in fighting form could also benefit from the recent management changes.
Roode has had a strange time on the main roster, claiming several titles, but never quite having the chance to translate the superstar aura he had in NXT to RAW and SmackDown! Currently in his mid-forties, Roode is one of the more seasoned wrestlers on the WWE roster. But, with several other quadragenarians in key positions like Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Rey Mysterio and more amidst the company's ranks, there is no reason that the main roster can't be absolutely glorious once again.
