Scholarships from our Schools
Mia Russell Scholarship opportunities within KU School of Nursing differ depending on your program. Students receive notifications about scholarship opportunities through Blackboard, our digital learning interface, and must complete an application to be considered for KU School of Nursing scholarships.
The following list offers a snapshot of some of the available opportunities for students in our graduate-level nursing programs:
General Graduate Program Scholarships
School of Nursing Endowment scholarships are awarded twice a year, in both the fall and spring semesters. Applicants will have completed at least nine graduate credit hours and must be enrolled in at least five credit hours in the award semester. Scholarships may be awarded based on a variety of factors, including donor-directed criteria, merit or merit paired with financial need.
Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholarship Program
The Jonas Scholars Program supports the development of new nursing faculty by preparing nurses with research-focused doctoral degrees. Scholars are funded with support from the Jonas Center and matching support from the KU School of Nursing. Jonas Scholars receive $20,000, distributed over two years, for tuition and other academic costs. Applicants must be pursuing full-time study and have approximately two years remaining in the Ph.D. program.
Zimmerman Ph.D. Nursing Student Scholarship
This 2-year scholarship is awarded to a Ph.D. nursing student pursuing full-time Ph.D. education. The award includes full-time tuition and fees remission, living expense stipend, and graduate teaching/research associate opportunities. When applicable, the Zimmerman scholarship committee selects recipients based upon applicants' student-faculty research mentor match, personal statement, recommendation letters, and graduate GPA.
