Status Update On Heated Argument Between MJF And Tony Khan
Andrew Patterson Following reports of a heated exchange between AEW's Tony Khan and AEW star MJF, there are follow-up reports coming out that the beef has been settled, including information that suggested some previous reports were not accurate.
Monday afternoon, reports had surfaced that Khan was quite upset that MJF took part in an unapproved interview with Ariel Helwani on ESPN. Fightful Select reported that there would not have been an issue with the content of the MJF/Helwani interview -- which included a lot of talk about his current and future contract situation -- if the wrestler has gone through the proper channels prior to the interview taking place. Because he didn't, various reports suggested Khan and MJF had words, some reports even suggesting the two got physical during the exchange.

In an update from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, any issues between Khan and MJF “are now said to be settled.” Meltzer also notes that the two did get heated, but “there was no fight.” So too, in an update by Fightful Select, Khan and MJF had a follow-up conversation on Monday, and that talk went much smoother the second time around.
The fact that a physical altercation was reported seemed like a stretch considering Khan has a lot to lose by getting into a fight with a member of his roster. Considering he not only owns AEW, but is part owner of a number of different sports franchises, he's got a lot to lose. So too does MJF, who is under contract until January 1, 2024. It would absolutely be a bad look for both men. Understandably, Khan would be upset if MJF went into business for himself and passionate about protecting the AEW brand. Khan already has a reputation as someone who truly loves the industry and is putting his heart into AEW. MJF disrespecting the proper process to be part of an important interview for the company wouldn't have gone over well.
Best To Put It Behind Them
The best thing both men can do at this point is to put the issue behind them. These two have a lot of big things planned and MJF is a rising star in the business. What Khan doesn't need is a disgruntled star holding a grudge and being set in his ways that he'll jump to WWE the second he gets a chance to.
