The Glee Project Officially Canceled by Oxygen
Andrew Patterson Although Glee lost its leading man Cory Monteith tragically this past weekend, a source tells us that the cancellation has nothing to do with his passing, and that the decision not to renew the show was made "several weeks ago." The source cites too-little turnaround time from Glee's late pickup as the main reason The Glee Project was axed.
The reality series also suffered from less-than-impressive ratings, with only 821,000 viewers tuning in for the season-two finale.
The Glee Project was responsible for Damian McGinty, Samuel Larsen, Blake Jenner and Alex Newell appearing on Glee with recurring or guest spots. Monteith served as a mentor on the reality series, along with Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Darren Criss.
