The Triple Frontier release was less economically fruitful than Netflix had hoped, especially after the studio spent a whopping $115 million in order to make it. Nonetheless, Triple Frontier scored a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes among critics, which put it at sufficiently positive reviews.

Though the theatrical failure might put a dour note on a potential Triple Frontier 2, the first film has recently found success, which may bode well for a follow-up. Triple Frontier made the Netflix Global Top 10 for the week of November 20 through November 26, garnering 3.6 million views during that week. This streaming renaissance casts a hopeful light on the potential for a sequel, as it suggests that audiences would still have interest in following the characters on a new adventure.
