Major championship golf is nothing without a bit of weather-related drama and, like every tournament, the conditions can greatly affect how the course plays and which player will end up victorious at the end of the weekend. 

The first two men's Majors of the year certainly saw their fair share of rain in parts, with the second and third rounds of The Masters affected due to the threat of lightning, heavy rain and the falling of several trees. 

Last month, players in round three of the PGA Championship were left with no choice but to brave heavy rain and a soaked course at Oak Hill. Thankfully for 156 golfers competing in the 123rd US Open - held at Los Angeles Country Club - the conditions look decidedly calmer, with rain only a very minor possibility in the first round. Ultimately, conditions look perhaps a bit milder than many would expect for the west coast of America.

Thursday

The weather forecast for most of Thursday looks fairly good. Cloud looks set to hang around in the morning, but by early to mid afternoon the sun should start to force its way through. 

Currently, there is a zero chance of rain, while the temperate should get to around 70°. In terms of the wind, this is predicted to be light - S to SW in the morning, switching more to SW in the afternoon. 

Friday

The sunshine is forecast to break through earlier Friday by around lunchtime and that should result in temperatures around the mid 70s. There is a currently a 20% chance of rain in the morning, but the threat will have passed completely as we head into the afternoon. Wind-wise, much like Thursday, the forecast is light S-SW with gusts not exceeding 18.

Saturday

The trend continues into the weekend's rounds. On Saturday, the temperature is predicted to reach a high of 78°. Once again, any wind is looking like being light with gusts at a high of around the 18-mark.

Sunday

At present, the chance of rain sits at 20%. However, overall the forecast looks similar to the previous three days, with a high of around 76° and light S-SW wind.
