They're looked up to as heroes and role models by many fans, but at the end of the day, they're regular human beings just like the rest of us.

They too worked ordinary jobs like everyone else before finding success in WWE. Some still own businesses on the side while they continue to perform in the ring. However, it's hard to imagine that they'd end their wrestling career to return to their old jobs. Here is what these superstars did for a leaving before finding fame in Vince McMahon's billion-dollar company.
10 Becky Lynch - Flight Attendant
Becky Lynch is one of the biggest and most popular female wrestlers in WWE right now. After going on a hiatus for over a year, she made her long-awaited return at SummerSlam and immediately captured the SmackDown Women's Championship.

Before The Man became famous, she worked as a flight attendant for Aer Lingus, which is an airline based in her native country of Ireland. Lynch's road to the top was filled with a lot of obstacles, but she managed to overcome every single one of them to get where she is right now.
9 Mustafa Ali - Police Officer
Mustafa Ali is undoubtedly one of the most underrated wrestlers in WWE right now. The fact that he has never held a single title in the company is criminal. Born in Bolingbrook, Illinois, the RAW superstar spent four years as a police officer in Homewood, Illinois.
He later decided to follow his passion for wrestling and now he's competing in the biggest sports entertainment company in the world. Prior to arriving on the main roster, he was a part of WWE 205 Live for some time.
8 Sheamus - IT Technician & Bodyguard
The Celtic Warrior Sheamus has had a very successful career in WWE. He has held the United States, Tag Team, and WWE Championship. He has also won the Royal Rumble match, Money in the Bank contract, and King of the Ring tournament.
Before he got to WWE, Sheamus worked as an IT technician for different companies in Dublin, Ireland from 1999 to 2007. He was also a bodyguard for Larry Mullen and Bono of U2. After meeting Bret "The Hitman" Hart in a bar, he embarked on his journey to joining WWE.
7 Wade Barrett - Recruitment Consultant
Wade Barrett is best known for leading The Nexus, a villainous faction that was formed in 2010. The group comprised of former WWE wrestlers Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt, Heath Slater, and Darren Young, among others. Barrett is a former Intercontinental Champion.
He could've been a bigger star in WWE, if it wasn't for his feud with John Cena. Before joining WWE, he worked in a science laboratory and as a recruitment consultant in England. He currently serves as a commentator for NXT.
6 AJ Styles - Water Delivery Man
AJ Styles has competed in countless wrestling promotions throughout the world. He was a major star in NJPW, TNA, and in WWE. He was part of the popular Bullet Club faction and he has wrestled many big names such as Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, and John Cena.
He is a former two-time WWE Champion and has held the Intercontinental and United States Titles. Before becoming a wrestler, The Phenomenal One delivered water for a living. Now, he's a wrestling veteran and a surefire WWE Hall of Famer.
5 Alexa Bliss - Bodybuilder
Alexa Bliss is one of the top women in the industry. She is the first person to hold the SmackDown and Raw Women's Championship on two different occasions. Last year, she underwent a gimmick change during her alliance with 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt by adapting a supernatural character.

She is currently on a hiatus, and her last match was at Extreme Rules where she lost to Charlotte Flair in a Raw Women's Championship match. Before WWE, the women's Grand Slam Champion Little Miss was a cheerleader at her high school and became a bodybuilder. She even competed in the Arnold Classic. Little Miss Bliss doing big things.
4 John Cena - Limousine Driver
John Cena is one of the recognizable stars to have ever come out of WWE. He carried the company as the franchise player after its shift to family-oriented programming. Cena is also regarded as one of the greatest of all time by many fans and pundits.
Before he became a WWE Superstar, the 16-time world champion used to be a limousine driver and a bodybuilder. He is also a musician and a major Hollywood celebrity. He recently collided with Roman Reigns at SummerSlam for the Universal Championship, but he was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture the title.
3 Liv Morgan - Hooters Girl
Liv Morgan has the potential to be a big star in WWE. She's very young but she still has what it takes to reach the top. Next week on Monday Night Raw, she will compete in the biggest match of her career when she collides with 'The Man' Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship.
Before she became a WWE Superstar, Liv Morgan was a former competitive cheerleader. She also worked and modeled for the popular restaurant chain Hooters. In February 2021, it was reported that she had started a real estate business with former WWE star Bo Dallas. She also has a farm that houses livestock such as cows and chickens.
2 Roman Reigns - Office Furniture Installer & NFL Player
Roman Reigns is the biggest star in the entire wrestling industry right now. He has held the Universal Championship for over two 450 days, and it doesn't seem like he'll be losing it anytime soon. The Tribal Chief comes from a rich wrestling background.
His father and uncle were known as The Wild Samoans and his cousin, The Rock, is currently the biggest movie star in the world. Reigns didn't immediately get into wrestling after college though. He used to install office furniture for his sister's business. He was also an American football player, but he didn't reach the same success in the sport as he did in WWE.
1 Brock Lesnar - Construction Worker
"The Beast Incarnate" Brock Lesnar is one most dominant athletes in combat sports history. He is a former NCAA Division I Heavyweight Champion, UFC Heavyweight Champion, IWGP Heavyweight, and WWE Universal Champion. No other athlete can say they've accomplished the same.
Lesnar grew up on a farm, and in his biography, he stated that he worked as a construction worker. He went on to become an amateur wrestler and finally a WWE Superstar. In 2004, he left the company to pursue a career in the NFL. When that didn't go successful he joined UFC and New Japan Pro Wrestling before returning to WWE in 2012.
