The Hall of Fame night is one of the biggest events of the year in WWE. Several WWE superstars, legends, and fans show up at the event to see the inductees who made illustrious careers in the company. However, one of the inductees this year has left everything thinking about the reason behind it. Also, a wrestling veteran recently called it “hilarious” and suspects WWE secretly having an alliance with a rival promotion.

Jim Cornette, who is known for his no holds barred statements, recently talked about The Great Muta’s WWE Hall of Fame induction. He had some doubts about WWE doing this for the Japanese legend and made a claim

In the recent episode of Jim Cornette’s: Drive-Thru, the 61-year-old talked about this year’s Hall of Fame inductees announced by WWE. Surprisingly, he found it bewildering that WWE is inducting The Great Muta into their Hall of Fame, who never wrestled for the Stamford-based company. 

Cornette said, “Muta for any wrestling Hall of Fame, yes. But it’s f**king hilarious because he never worked there once. Where does that come from? Just somebody noted that he just had his retirement match in Japan and thought, well, you know, now would be the time I don’t know.”

He added, “I didn’t know he had any relationship with the WWF or WWE unless they’re trying to what company is he most beholden to? or affiliated with or involved with in Japan? (Pro Wrestling, Noah). Would you think WWE be trying to do something with them?……Muta I did my best to plead your case and dooms to but son of a gun.”

Nevertheless, Cornette credited Muta for his legacy. But it felt a bit off for the wrestling veteran when WWE announced Muta into their Hall of Fame. He said, “maybe it’s some kind of strategic. As you said, they’re all about the strategic stuff these days in the WWE.”

Furthermore, he took a jibe at WWE over getting sold anytime now, as the rumors stated they had started looking at offers. He made a joke WWE might be sold by the time Muta will be in the Hall of Fame.

Also, since Triple H has taken over creative, WWE has kind of opened the Forbidden Door. It can be an attempt to establish a reputation in Japan, but Muta is a legend in the wrestling world and WWE honoring his illustrious career only seems right.

The Great Muta’s career outside Japan

The rumors came true a few days ago when Ric Flair announced The Great Muta as the second inductee of the 2023 Hall of Fame. The 60-year-old Japanese legend never wrestled in a WWE in his lengthy career. He faced Shinsuke Nakamura at Pro Wrestling Noah earlier this year who was under a WWE contract.

But he did wrestle in the United States in the companies like WCW, NWA, and TNA/Impact Wrestling. His last major appearance in the USA was in AEW, where he came to save his arch-rival from his NWA days, Sting.
