Where to Find Thunder Stone (& What It’s For)
Emma Powell How to find Thunder Stones around the Hisui region in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and where to purchase them in Jubilife Village using Merit Points.
Along with new ways to evolve in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, such as using the Strong Style to evolve Hisuian Qwilfish, the classic trio of elemental evolution stones make their return as well. Of these, the Thunder Stone continues to be a core staple of the game as the only way to evolve the franchise mascot Pikachu into Raichu, Eevee into Jolteon, and Magneton into Magnezone without needing a magnetic field zone. However, finding Thunder Stones can challenging, especially in comparison to other recent Pokémon games in the franchise such as Pokémon: Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon where the starter Rowlet was introduced.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus players find themselves teleported back in time to the ancient Sinnoh region by the mythical pokémon Arceus. Unable to return back to their own time, players are taken in by the small settlement of Jubilife Village after being recruited into the Galaxy Team’s Survey Corps. Like much of the “new” Hisui region, Pokémon Legends weaves in hallmarks of past generations of the Pokémon franchise games into this new setting, including evolution stones.
Thankfully for players, Thunder Stones are not as rare or as expensive as some of the other evolution items. Additionally, players have multiple ways to find Thunder Stones along with most of the other evolution stones. What players can expect for all of the methods is that they will require some grinding and some luck.
How to Find and Purchase Thunder Stones in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
The easiest and least time-consuming method for players to find multiple Thunder Stones in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is by farming them throughout the five different wilderness regions. Within each of these areas, there are three different types of ores that stick up out of the ground that players can send out their Pokémon at to break and then retrieve the ore. Some of these ores will also be sparkling, indicating that they contain rarer materials, including evolution stones. By seeking out these sparkling ores, players have a chance to attain Thunder Stones, as well as other valuable materials.
Players may also purchase Thunder Stones along with other evolution items in Pokémon Legends: Arceus from Simona at the Trading Post in Jubilife Village using Merit Points. However, this is not the most efficient method, as Merit Points are only awarded through returning Lost Satchels, which on average payout a little above 50 MP per satchel, with Thunder Stones costing 1000 MP. Instead, it would be better to save Merit Points to purchase the rarer evolution items before Thunder Stones as these drop more frequently. Similarly, they can be purchased at the Ginko Guild's Cart for 5,000 Pokédollars from Ginter, however, when they are available is both random and rare.
The final way is through completing Pokémon: Arceus Request Missions, which sometimes offer evolution stones as a reward. One such mission is Request #52, “Eevee's Evolutions,” which is unlocked after completing Request #48, “The Taste of Home.” As a bonus reward for finding Eevee, the quest giver Floaro will give players the option to pick one out of three different evolution stones, one of which is a Thunder Stone.
