Actor James Caan died at 82 on July 6, 2022. A statement posted on his official Twitter account reads, “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

The actor was married four times, and five children survive him, including Tara. He was most recently married to Linda Stokes from 1995 until their divorce in 2017. He and Linda split up three times during their tumultuous marriage.

James’ eldest daughter, Tara, was born on November 5, 1964. The actor shares his daughter with his first wife, Dee Jay Mathis. Dee Jay Mathis is an actress who appeared in the 1964 movie, “The Passy,” and as Earl Barton’s dancer in “Frankie and Johnny,” in 1966. 

Although her dad was one of Hollywood’s most well-known actors, Tara has seemingly lived out of the spotlight. Aside from making a few rare appearances with her dad over the years, there isn’t any information about Tara.

James’ second child, Scott, was born on August 23, 1976. Unlike Tara, Scott embraced his dad’s celebrity status and has made a career in showbiz. Scott has since cemented his status as a Hollywood star, but he once revealed his dad didn’t want him to follow in his footsteps. “My dad didn’t want me to get into the business,” Scott told The Fall. “He knew it would be hard to do this job repeatedly, and it’s creatively hard to get excited about playing the same dude for seven years.”

Alexander James Caan

James’ third child was born on April 10, 1991. Alexander has yet to appear in any major TV shows or films, but he is an actor, according to his Instagram.

Alex’s social media reveals he’s also a musician. Per his Soundcloud page, which he calls “Audio Medic,” Alex produces electronic music.

James Jr. is the actor’s eldest son with his fourth wife, Linda. He was born on November 6, 1995. James Jr. made several appearances with his dad when he was alive, including at Hollywood events and other red-carpet outings. It’s unclear what James Jr. is up to today as he stays out of the spotlight for the most part and is private on social media.

Jacob Nicholas Caan

The actor’s youngest son, Jacob Nicholas Caan, was born on September 24, 1998. Like his older brother James Jr., Jacob joined his dad for many showbiz events when he was a kid. He has taken a step back from the spotlight as he grew older.
