“Most of the tattoos, when I first started, I was covering up some scars that I had, ‘cause I tend to have keloid scar tissue, and I have a tendency where, if I have any kind of scars anywhere, then they kind of have a purple tinge that I can never get rid of,” she said. “So mine are all pastels, what few that I have, and they’re meant to cover some scars. I’m not trying to make some big, bold statement.”

Several industry professionals have made distinctive statements about Dolly covering her elbows and hands because she doesn’t like them. Creative director Steve Summers told Instyle she wears gloves as a matter of style and said, “What’s wrong with her hands? She’s 73, and she doesn’t like them?”

Duane Gordon speculated another reason back in 2011 for the singer’s decision and said, “However, I can relay third-hand information that she was asked about the gloves by fans while filming scenes for her upcoming movie Joyful Noise and told them that last year she had had corrective hand surgery (medical, not cosmetic) and it left a scar that she’s covering.”

Dolly Parton Is Ready to Wear Sneakers Only in This Condition

After being a trendsetter, she recently revealed her footwear preferences. Dolly always sports 5 to 6-inch heels and expressed her desire to wear sneakers with the same heel size during a TalkShopLive chat with Nancy O’Dell. She also revealed that she has custom-made heels to fit her arch, and sometimes she would want 7-inch heels.
