January 30th's Wordle may stump a few players today, but with a strong starter word, and maybe a few hints, anyone can find the answer.

January 30th has brought with it another difficult Wordle answer, which could cause some players to finally lose their year-long streak. Wordle is a simple daily puzzle game that has taken the world by storm with its easy-to-use interface, one-a-day puzzles, and cute social media sharing style. Used by many in their morning coffee routine, or as a short break during the workday, Wordle has quickly become a household name.

Wordle starts out with six rows of five empty boxes, and players need to guess a five-letter word within the six guesses. Players start by randomly inputting a starter word, from there the game will highlight certain letters green if they are correct, yellow if they are correct but in the wrong spot, or grey if they are not in the word at all. Using this information players can begin to formulate a strategy on the next guess, rearranging and adding letters as needed to eventually get the correct word. There is also a Wordle 'Hard Mode' that can be turned on in the options, this mode forces players to use the hints given previously by not allowing letters that have been shown to be incorrect and not allowing different placement of letters shown in green.

Wordle's popularity can easily be traced back to its sharing feature. When a puzzle is complete, the game will offer a 'share' button that players can click and copy their daily guessing attempt. What makes this unique from other similar games is the use of emoji boxes that represent the player's journey to solve the Wordle. Social media sites like Twitter were quickly filled with people posting their Wordle guesses, this led to even more players jumping on the game to show off their own attempts. This simple spoiler-free design aesthetic easily brought Wordle to the forefront of people's day and continues to grow the game's popularity.

Wordle’s January 30, 2022 (#225) Hints & Answer

Ending the week with a more difficult Wordle answer is just downright mean. For those who don't want to be told the solution outright, we have a few hints first to jog the memory.

• Hint #1: Today's Wordle is past-tense and contains the ninth least-used letter.
• Hint #2: Homer continually did this when he was upset.
• Hint #3: Today's Wordle may have been forcibly dried out.

Wordle 225 Answer (January 30)

If the hints above didn't give it away, January 30th's Wordle word is WRUNG. The past tense use of 'wring,' wrung is to have forcibly squeezed or twisted an object. The best Wordle starting word we tried today was ROAST. This did not provide much information at all, so for the second word we used GRILL, giving us just a single extra hint. After that, the word guessed was PRONG which provided a much more solid base of information. BRUNG was the fourth attempt which easily led us to the correct answer, WRUNG.

Today's Wordle is definitely one of the more difficult ones as it's not used very often in conversation.
