WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 Guide: Match Card, Predictions
Emily Bell Quick Links
Whether you like WWE basing entire premium live events around a single match type or not, they're going to keep coming. Not Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank so much, although some fans would be happy to see the latter return to the WrestleMania card, but more Hell in a Cell and TLC. While the latter may well have become a thing of the past as it has now been more than 12 months since the last TLC event, WWE's Hell in a Cell event is still very much alive, and the next one is on the horizon.

The premium live event based around what might be one of WWE's most brutal matches, at least historically, returns to the calendar yet again this year. Hell in a Cell will be WWE's last major stop before it embarks on three huge stadium shows in the space of just two months. Hell in a Cell will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2022, starting at 8 pm EST, or 7 pm if you want to watch the kickoff show. That and the main card can be watched on Peacock in the US, or the WWE Network everywhere else. Everything announced for the show so far can be found below.
Bianca Belair vs. Asuka vs. Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship
This match was steeped in controversy before it had even been announced. Asuka beat Becky Lynch on Raw to earn her spot opposite Bianca Belair at this event. However, that number one contender match was supposed to include six Superstars, and apparently, Naomi was the one who was supposed to win. Naomi and Sasha Banks, who was also meant to be in the match, walked out ahead of the bout which resulted in WWE having to book on the fly. That all led to Asuka getting this shot instead, and then Lynch winning her way into the match a week later.
Had Naomi been in this match, then Belair would have almost definitely won. Asuka and Lynch taking her place changes everything. Aside from the fact it would be a shame to see The Empress lose a match of this caliber so soon after her return, WWE tends to mix things up quite a bit when something like this happens. Asuka to win this one and really shake things up.
Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins in a Hell in a Cell Match
Despite Cody Rhodes vowing he wouldn't wrestle Seth Rollins again after beating him at back-to-back premium live events, this match was always going to happen. They've had two great matches and an event called Hell in a Cell is up next. Rollins also forced Rhodes' hand, something he really needed to do as skulking away after losing two big matches to the same Superstar isn't a good look.
As for who wins, it almost has to be Rollins. Yes, the man can bounce back from anything, and WWE is clearly making Rhodes look as strong as possible. Three huge losses in the space of two months to the same opponent though, that's not cool. Have Rhodes go to war with Rollins inside Hell in a Cell, lose, and then come back 24 hours later and win a big match to qualify for Money in the Bank.
Theory vs. Mustafa Ali for the United States Championship
Theory is officially The Chosen One. Now, let's just hope he doesn't have to be turned into a comedy act and spend a few years elsewhere before he can come back and Vince McMahon's latest vision can be fully realized. He's had some pretty big moments already, and at Hell in a Cell this Sunday, he will defend the US Title against Mustafa Ali.
All of the above paired with the fact Ali has only just returned after attempting to force his hand and get WWE to release him makes it incredibly unlikely Theory is going to lose here. McMahon's new favorite toy to win this one and continue his reign as the youngest US Champion ever.
AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and Liv Morgan vs. The Judgment Day
Even though there are no titles involved, for the time being, the issues surrounding the six Superstars involved in this match might be the best thing about WWE TV right now. Not only does putting Rhea Ripley in an Edge-led stable feel like a big deal for her, but Liv Morgan getting the rub from AJ Styles and Finn Balor feels like a well-deserved and long overdue big deal for her too.
As for who wins this mixed tag match, it really has to be The Judgment Day. The group is presumably going to be around for a while yet so needs to rack up wins, even if that means Edge beating Styles yet again. That doesn't have to be how this match ends, of course, and it's likely the teased fourth member of Edge's stable helps them win on Sunday.
Bobby Lashley vs. Omos and MVP in a Handicap Match
Bobby Lashley just can't seem to shake Omos, and the two of them will go around yet again at Hell in a Cell. The All Mighty's plan to be done with the behemoth once and for all sort of blew up in his face. Lashley challenged MVP to a match and whoever won decided the stipulation for this one. MVP outwitted the former WWE Champion, beating him by countout and choosing to make this match a handicap affair.
That means Lashley will have the added headache of MVP as a legal competitor in the match when he faces Omos for the third time. On the bright side, Lashley can defeat Omos without actually beating him by pinning or submitting MVP, which is probably what is going to happen.
Ezekiel vs. Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens probably didn't expect his first angle coming out of a WrestleMania main event against Stone Cold to be a comedy feud with Elias. Sorry, Ezekiel. He definitely wouldn't have expected that angle to still be going on two months later. Here we are, and despite the weekly progression of the issues between these two, this will be the first time KO and Ezekiel have met one on one.
While it would be very amusing to see Ezekiel win this one, there's only so much further this bit can go. Ezekiel eventually has to be rumbled and admit he's just a shaved Elias, and a brutal loss to Owens at Hell in a Cell could be what begins to bring that out of him.
Madcap Moss vs. Happy Corbin in a No Holds Barred Match
The final match on the Hell in a Cell card was added just two days before the show. Madcap Moss returned just in time after being sidelined by Happy Corbin a few weeks ago, promising that his joking days are behind him and we'll see a more serious version of the Superstar moving forward.
That started with Moss losing his first match back by hitting Corbin with a chair and getting himself disqualified. No risk of that in the rematch on Sunday as it will be no holds barred. Moss will likely get his win back too and hopefully move on from what has been a very long feud with Corbin.
